High school basketball roundup: Cass Lake-Bena boys improve to 3-0

PINE RIVER - The Cass Lake-Bena boys basketball team remained undefeated and improved to 3-0 with a road victory over Pine River-Backus Tuesday night.

Martin Wind scored 25 points to lead the Panthers and he stands 12 points short of the 2,000 point mark.

Tyler Trosen scored 15 points and Ben Cameron added 12 points for Cass Lake-Bena.

The Panthers travel on the road Thursday night to face Red Lake in a rematch of the 2009 Section 8A East Subsection Championship game.

Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Red Lake High School.

Walker-H-A 69, Cass Lake-Bena 54

CASS LAKE - The Walker-Hackensack-Akeley girls basketball team pulled away in the second half to defeat Cass Lake-Bena Tuesday night.

Eva Lampert scored a game-high 30 points to lead WHA.

Danielle Jourdain scored 17 points to lead the Panthers. Autumn Brunelle 14 and Jordan Jackson each had 14 points.

WHA led at halftime 25-23.

"We are still looking for our first win," Cass Lake-Bena head coach Bill Kane said. "We're getting closer every game and I know that our girls are working very hard."

Waubun 70, Bagley 49

BAGLEY - Jenna Lund scored 21 points to lead the visiting Waubun girls basketball team past the Flyers Tuesday night.

Kari Skersick scored a team-high 11 points for the Flyers.
