Bemidji HS cross country teams compete at Tech

The Bemidji boys finished fifth and the girls eighth Tuesday at the St. Cloud Tech Invitational cross country meet.

It was a the final start before the year ending Bemidji Invitational next Tuesday at Greenwood Golf Course.

Moorhead swept the top four titles, claiming the boys and girls varsity and JV titles. Bemidji won the boys junior high race.

The Spuds claimed the boys title with 45 points to 85 for Willmar. St. Cloud Cathedral and Brainerd preceded Bemidji in a 14 team field.

Lukas Gemar of Moorhead, who has led most of the fall events, was the winner in 16:07.

Teammate Derrick Nelson was second at 16:29.

Andy Berube paced the Jacks at 17:13 with Alex Schoneberger 21, John Buckanaga 27, Dan Clemenson 38 and Justin Byers 40 to complete the scoring. The kicker was Jake Urban 44 in a field of 80.

Moorhead scored 40 points to take the girls varsity crown with Willmar a distant second at 99. Cathedral, Little Falls and Brainerd rounded out the top five.

For Bemidji, Kim Truedson was seventh in 15:49 with Bailey Drewes 25, Alex Lyren 55, Hana Felix 58 and LeAnne Oakes 64 as the five scorers.

Trailing were Amber Solheim 65, Betsy Richards 66 and Chelsea Johnson 71 in a field of 73.

Moorhead edged Willmar 28-32 for the boys JV title with Bemidji fourth at 111 in a field off 13.

Jacob Geraghty of Moorhead won in 17:26 with a 1-4-5-7-11 finish providing the win.

For Bemidji, Devin Danielson was 13, Scott Hulsebus 19, Ryan Erickson 21, Tanner Asper 24 and Josh Kane 34 as the five scorers.

Then came Jake Fisher 35, Bryce Blankenfeld 43, Eric Johannsen 45, Pete Humeniuk, 51, Trent Buckanaga 57. Alex Cole 59. Zach Rickers 71 and Keegan Hilmer 72.

Moorhead took the girls JV title with a perfect 15 points to 65 for Cathedral.

Ashley Kassenborg paced the Spuds in16:25.

Susan Spears was 61 as the lone Bemidji runner in a field of 80.

Bemidji matched the perfect mark in the boys junior high race with 15 points to 91 for Willmar in a field of 13.

Devin Barrett led the sweep in 11:36 with Tom Revering, Mark Hovila, Matt Glen and Erik Sorenson the next four.Tony Sagedahl was fifth, Kyle Sagedahl ninth, Nate Spangler 22, Seth Neubeck 45, Kole Pankow 48. Ben Burgess 59, Chris Washington 80, Ben Groshens 89 and Kyle Krause 91.

Then came Joe Lukowski 102 Morgan Moe 108 and Evan Copiskey 118.

Brainerd took the girls junior high crown with 30 points to 77 for Moorhead with Bemidji fourth at 184.

Bemidji's Jenna Truedson led the field in 12:26, winning by 44 seconds over Brianna Greueneberg of Moorhead.

Sara Reed was 21, California Thorson 30, Atomic Thorson 59, Haili Johnson 72, Angela Nagle 74 and Lexie Stenson 79 in a field of 85.
