Bemidji HS girls soccer: Rally falls short for Jacks against St. Cloud Apollo

The Bemidji girls soccer team battled Central Lakes leader Apollo on near even terms Saturday before falling 5-3 at the Middle School field

The girls head to Grand Rapids Monday seeking to repeat an earlier 3-0 win scored here, They go to East Grand Forks Thursday to replay a previous rainout.

Each team in Saturday's contest had 18 shots on goal with Nicole Ramos making 13 stops for Bemidji and Joan Mathison15 for the Eagles.

Apollo jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first half on two Courtney Lynch tallies around one by Catherine Rogosheske.

Alexa Wang got one back for Bemidji in the final three minutes on a penalty kick

Bronwyn Boyd's goal early in the second half sliced the margin to 3-2.

But the Eagles put back to back goals in the net in the final three minutes to salt the game away before Caitlin Blotske's final goal ended the scoring.

The loss dropped Bemidji to 5-6-1. Apollo is 9-1-1.

The JV scored a rare goal and found it a winner in a 1-0 triumph. The team is now 2-7-2.

The goal was only its third in the past nine games.
