Bemidji HS boys soccer moves up with win

The Bemidji boys soccer team moved up in the Lakes to Prairie Conference Thursday with a 3-0 victory at Crookston.

It put Bemidji at 4-1-1 in league play trailing only unbeaten Detroit Lakes, Crookston suffered its first loss to drop to 2-1-2.

Bemidji scored all three goals in the second half. It out shot Crookston 7-4 in the initial stanza but was unable to dent goalie Andy Shafer.

Rylee Curb again led the way, scoring twice and assisting on Luke Burns goal in between.

Max Hazelton drew the opening feed and Kyle Fodness assisted the final goal.

Bemidji held a wide 13-4 shots bulge after the intermission.

Shafer endedwith17 stops. Kevin Larson had only eight in posting his second shutout of the year.

"We played well enough to win," said Coach Rick Toward, "and were able to shut down the Portillo brothers which is the key to beating Crookston. They are a very good team and I'm always happy to get away with any win on the road.

The Jacks host Brainerd in a non-conference game tomorrow at 1. The Warriors are 2-2 and 2-1 in the CLC. They won last year's meeting 4-0 at Brainerd.

The win lifted Bemidji to 5-1-1 overall. The five wins equal last year's final total.

The JV reached 4-1-2 overall with a similar 3-0 win. It also scored al; three goals in the final half with Wyatt Miller, Dillon Eichstadt and Asa Erickson scoring.

Ben Schreiber had three stops. Shafer, who played both games, ended with 16.

The JV also hosts Brainerd tomorrow.
