Volleyball: Panthers, Mustangs and Flyers pick up victories

The Cass Lake-Bena volleyball team defeated Indus Tuesday night 3-0 at Cass Lake-Bena High School.

The Panthers swept the match by scores of 25-19, 25-14 and 25-19.

Anne Aitken had five kills, two aces, 10 serve receptions and six digs for Cass Lake-Bena.

Brandi Strong had a good night serving and finished the match with four ace serves.

The Panthers return to the court Thursday night at Cass Lake-Bena to face Walker-Hackensack-Akeley. Game time is at 7:30 p.m.

Also in local volleyball action Tuesday night was Northome/Kelliher and Clearbrook-Gonvick at Northome.

Northome/Kelliher won the match 3-0.

The game scores were 25-19, 25-13 and 25-15.

Katie Lutz had five kills to lead Northome/Kelliher.

Mustang setter Ann Poxleitner had five ace serves and 13 set assists.

Caitlyn Duresky finished the night 100 percent serving and added seven kills.

Erica Fahrendorff led Northome/Kelliher defensively with 22 digs.

Brittany Hand had 14 digs and five kills.

In Clearbrook, Bagley defeated Clearbrook-Gonvick 3-1.

The scores were 25-17, 25-17, 14-25 and 25-13.

Leading Bagley was Kathryn Demaris with 10 kills. Andrea Hood had five kills and Katie Skiersick had four kills.

Ashley Mayer had 10 digs and eight ace serves for the Flyers.

Hood and Kelsie Leintz had 10 set assists.

For Blackduck, Mollie Exner led the Drakes with five kills. Rachel Petterson had two kills.

Roxie Kallroos had 15 digs and Siera Savich had 10 digs for the Drakes.
