The Bemidji American Legion caps its regular season this weekend playing in the prestigious Gopher Classic.
It opens tonight against Edina at 7:30 in pool play and faces St. Louis Johnny Mac at 2:39 and West St, Paul at 5 tomorrow.
On Sunday Bemidji faces Kenosha, Wis. at 9:30 and Chaska at noon to complete its pool.
Should it advance, bracket play will take place Monday and Tuesday.
The Legion closed with a rush to square its record at 12-12 winning 10 of its past 12 games. It clinched third place in the North Sub-district at 8-8 trailing Little Falls and Nisswa. The sub-district will begin play next week with a play-in game between Brainerd and Park Rapids.
Coach Mike Fog Fogelson can take his pick from his mound staff probably going with Jeremiah Graves (1-3) tonight.
Simon Anderson (2-1) and Cody Rutledge (3-1) who hurled the Wednesday sweep over Brainerd, should b available for Sunday's pair with Chad Head (2-2) and Josh Kane (3-1) the likely Saturday starters.
Bemidji went 2-3 at the Gopher last year, beating Lakeville North in its first game and Sioux Falls East in its fourth but failing to advance to the brackets.
It is likely to face its strongest opposition of the season this weekend.
