Baseball: Bemidji Legion travels to Little Falls for a rematch

The Bemidji American Legion will pay a return trip to Little Falls tomorrow for their second twin bill of the year.

After losing their opening two twin bills with Park Rapids and Thief River to rain and a schedule mix-up, the Legion fell to Little Falls 3-1 and 15-3 Thursday night at BSU.

Little Falls leads the sub-district race at 4-0 with an earlier sweep of Brainerd.

Nisswa moved into second place by sweeping Park Rapids 14-2 and 5-1, dropping PR into a third place tie with Bemidji and Brainerd at 0-2.

Coach Mike Fogelson will have to dip deeper into his young pitching staff tomorrow with Chad Head and Tyler Follis listed for the starting calls.

It will be the first start this summer for both.

Head went 2-1 and Follis 0-2 with the Lumberjacks this spring.

Wednesday the Legion will host Park Rapids in a makeup of their season opening rainout.

Those will be the last for the team until it opens play at the St. Cloud Invitational Friday.

There it will face Coon Rapids, Waite Park and the St. Cloud Chutes in pool play with hopes of gaining the final four Saturday afternoon.

Waite Park is the Apollo summer team with the Chutes representing St. Cloud Cathedral which gained the state Class 2A tournament.

Willmar, Elk River, Apple Valley and Rochester Lourdes will make up a second pool and Sauk Rapids, the St. Cloud 76'ers, Cold Spring and Monticello the third. The 76'ers are the St. Cloud Tech summer unit.

Apple Valley (11) and

Coon Rapids (17) are the only teams in the top 20 in this week's Legion poll.
