Baseball: Cass Lake-Bena ends season with two wins

The Cass Lake-Bena baseball team ended the regular season with two wins earlier this week.

The Panthers defeated Kelliher/Northome 9-8 on Monday and Bagley 8-2 on Tuesday.

The Panthers played in a wild one against the Mustangs. Cass Lake Bena fell behind 2-1 in the first inning before taking a 6-2 lead after three innings.

Kelliher/Northome then scored six runs in the fourth to take a 8-6 lead. Cass Lake-Bena responded in the sixth and scored three runs to take the lead for good.

CLB pitcher Tyler Trosen picked up his fifth win of the season. Brett Fredrickson had three hits.

In the game against the Flyers, Cass Lake-Bena scored its eight runs on 11 hits.

Cass Lake-Bena finished the regular season 14-5-1 overall and 11-4-1 in the Northland Conference.

The Panthers, 36-6-1 in their last 43 games, open subsection play Tuesday at a site and time to be determined.
