Bemidji High School wrestling: Olson wins first match at state tournament

The two Bemidji High representatives at the state wrestling tournament went 1-1 in the opening round of action Wednesday at the Xcel Energy Center.

Corey Huber at 160 was decisioned 7-5 by Dalton Lilledahl of Cambridge-Isanti.

Evan Olson at 189 pinned Tyler Kubler of Eden Prairie in 5:30.

He advances to today's quarterfinals at 4 p.m. needing one win to assure himself of placing.

Huber will await his fate to see if Lilledahl wins his second match. If so, he will wrestle in the wrestlebacks at 7.

If Olson wins today, he moves to Friday's semifinals. Should he lose he would move into the wrestleback quarterfinals, also starting at 4. The wrestleback semifinals will follow at 7.

The first, third and fifth place matches will take place Saturday.
