CROSS COUNTRY: Carlson wins boys race, Truedson second in girls meet at Detroit Lakes

BEMIDJI -- Sam Carlson won the boys meet, Jenna Truedson was second in the girls division and both Bemidji teams finished third at Thursday's cross country invitational hosted by Detroit Lakes.

Carlson set the pace with a time of 17:12 and teammate Caleb Appleton was 14th in 18:00.

Billy Freyholtz finished 19th (18:29) and Evan White was 24th (18:47). Also finishing for the Jacks were Noah Holter in 31st, Seth Neubeck (43rd) and Thomas Revering (79th).

Alexandria won the boys meet with 75 points while Willmar scored 87, Bemidji 89, Moorhead 107 and Little Falls 137.

Truedson claimed second in the girls race with a time of 15:10. Megan Serratore was sixth (16:26), Sadie Hamrin 14th (16:54) and Atomic Thorson was 28th (17:38). Also competing were Allie Neubeck, Morgan Sagedahl and Amber Smith.

Willmar won the meet with 42 points and Moorhead was second with 52. BHS tallied 95, Sartell 103 and Alexandria 124.

Thursday's meet was a tune-up for the Section 8 competition which will also be held on the course on Oct. 24.
