Midwest Football League meeting today
BEMIDJI — A meeting for players and coaches interested in becoming part of the Bemidji team during this fall’s Midwest Premiere Football League season will be 6 p.m. today at the field near the Bemidji Boys and Girls Club facility.
According to J.J. Kern, the owner of the league, a team in Bemidji has been organized and will be called the Bemidji Fighting Skeeters.
The team will practice at the Boys and Girls Club field and will play its games at Chet Anderson Stadium on the Bemidji State University campus.
The team will be on the road for its first game as it will meet the Duluth Grizzlies 2 p.m. on Sept. 14. Bemidji’s initial home game will be 7 p.m. Sept. 20 against Duluth.
Other teams in the fall league, according to Kern, include the Mankato Brawlers, Fargo-Moorhead Lumberjacks and Minnesota Silverbacks out of Burnsville.
“We are just starting to organize the team and the league,” Kern said.
