Blackduck drops doubleheader to Wadena

BLACKDUCK — The Blackduck Legion baseball team dropped a home doubleheader with Wadena Friday, falling 4-0 and 6-4.

Blackduck (7-5) will host Park Rapids Monday and travel to Deer River on Tuesday.

In Friday’s opener Blackduck managed only three hits — doubles by Colton Bales and Jake Peterson plus Dylan Weisert’s single. Both doubles led off innings but neither runner could score.

Wadena took advantage of Blackduck’s defensive miscues to take the lead. In the third inning Wadena scored with the help of an error and two passed balls. Another error led to a Wadena run in the fourth.

In the rematch Blackduck took a 4-0 lead with a run in the first and three in the second.

Jake Krabbenhoft’s single and Weisert’s double combined for the first-inning tally and in the second inning Dewy Nissen, Tanner Depew, Krabbenhoft and Weisert all singled home runs.

Wadena took the lead with five runs in the bottom of the third. The rally was highlighted by a 3-run home run by Jay Krause.

Wadena added an insurance tally in the fourth.
