Harper to leave Chippewa Forest position for job with U.S. Forest Service

Chippewa National Forest Supervisor Robert Harper will leave his post this month and take over the role as assistant director for forest management in the U.S. Forest Service's Washington, D.C. office.

Harper has been the Chippewa Forest supervisor since 2006.

"My family and I have so enjoyed northern Minnesota," Harper said. "The Bemidji schools have been wonderful and we have made many close friends here. It's been my privilege to serve the employees of the Chippewa National Forest and work in such a beautiful place."

Don Rees and Nick Schmal will serve as acting supervisors until Harper's position is permanently filled.
