LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Understanding science is easy to do in Bemidji
Want to meet another local science hero? Her name is Dr. Adela Elwell. But everyone calls her Laddie. (Ph.D. in parasitology, how cool is that?) With the force of her will, and help from friends and husband Jim, she founded the Headwaters Science Center. I call her tenacious, but some people have a different name for a women of strength … anyway.
She doesn't want another award (HSC is not the only thing she rocks) She would want you to support and understand the importance of science. Fortunately it's easy to do that right here in Bemidji. She would want you to know that visiting and enjoying a science center doesn't require an interest in science; that science centers are not just for children. She would want you to know that HSCs single biggest source of funding is you, the Bemidji community.
Come for a visit. Bring someone who has never been to HSC before. Make a donation and check out our continuously creative front window. It might be your only opportunity to see a skeleton mermaid. See you at the Science Center.
