LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Mom cherished kind words from Pioneer readers
I'm Kristen Rall Borysewicz, the daughter who imported her parents Patt and Ernie Rall to Bemidji 17 years ago. My husband and I knew they would find a wonderful community here, but we were astounded at how they were embraced and given opportunity to share their talents.
As a reporter and columnist for arts and entertainment, my mom became a bit of a celebrity as people pinned her weekly column on their refrigerators and greeted her warmly at various events.
I know you haven't seen her column in awhile, and just last week I offered to help her pen a goodbye column just to have ready for a future date. Unfortunately, Mom's Stage 4 lung cancer that she held at bay for six years quickly overtook her this past Thursday before we could work on that project. She was such a private person, but I know she wouldn't mind my publically thanking her first editor, Molly Miron, for giving her the opportunity to start a new and fulling career, subsequent editors who continued to support her, former Grand Forks Herald reporter Mike Brue whom she considered her mentor, and most importantly publisher Dennis Doeden for his vision and unfailing support.
Thank you, dear readers, for your cards, care and concern these many years as well as your kudos. My mom cherished them more than this letter can express.
