LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Kettle Campaign raised $44,000 thanks to volunteers, donors
I would like to thank the community for their support of the Beltrami County Salvation Army’s 2017 Christmas Kettle Campaign. The campaign collected $44,000 in donations to help work miracles in the lives of Beltrami County residents all year long. That is simply amazing.
More than 100 volunteers rang bells to make this possible including Salem Lutheran Church, Bemidji Rotary, Lions Club, Sons of Norway, the Northwest Minnesota Association of Realtors and Calvary Lutheran Church members along with all our wonderful individual volunteers who donate their own personal time to help this cause. Many thanks also to Gene Campbell and his ringers who were at Walmart and L&M Fleet, and Patti Jones and her ringers at Marketplace Foods. Their contributions are a shining example of the true spirit of Christmas.
I also want to thank Walmart, Lueken’s Village Foods stores, Marketplace Foods, L&M Fleet and the Circus Arcade at the Paul Bunyan Mall for their patience and assistance in allowing us to ring the bell at their locations. Thank you for your ongoing support.
To everyone who supported our Christmas Kettle effort, please know how valuable your contributions are, not just in terms of the mouths it will feed or the lives that it will help to reconstruct, but that you have brightened lives by letting those in need know they are surrounded by caring members of their own communities.
Carol Lauderbaugh, Bemidji, is chairperson for the Beltrami County Salvation Army Unit.
