Letter: Shrine Bowl weekend was a huge success
Thanks for a successful Bemidji State University Shrine Bowl weekend.
From the 1 million kids who are being helped every year by the Shriners of North America and particularly the kids from the Bemidji who are helped free of charge to walk, have burns treated, cleft palates fixed, lessen the problems of cerebral palsy or any other orthopedic problem, a big thank you for your support at the 17th annual Shrine Bowl weekend.
A special thank you to all the businesses who advertised in our program booklet. We know you all get requests for funds every day but know we do appreciate you all very much.
To all the BSU staff and Beaver Pride members, a big thank you for your help and cooperation. We couldn't do it without you. To Coach Jeff Tesch and all the coaches and the Beaver football team, good luck in the rest of the season and keep up the good work ethic you have and don't quit. Remember that you are a big part of the quote "strong legs run so weak legs may walk."
On a personal note, I must thank the team and foundation for selecting me to be the honorary captain for the game. As a BSU alum, former player and a Shriner it was a big honor to me.
To all who contributed dollars, you have all helped the Shriners run 22 hospitals in the United States and help about 1 million kids a year at a budget of about $700 million a year. No one is turned away or charged for the help we provide from birth to 18 years old. If you have a child who may need our help, contact a Shriner or you can contact me at 751-3123.
