Letter: Community Band closes out a fine season

A heartfelt thank you to the Bemidji Pioneer, and particularly Dennis Doeden, for the help this summer with our printing and publicity. There was a definite correlation between attendance and the articles' appearance in the Pioneer.

Also, a big thank you to those in attendance at our concerts. Without an audience, we would not have had the enjoyment of performing. Our new location outside of Bangsberg Hall has worked out great and the audience enjoys all the close-in parking. We had more than 50 musicians participating this summer from the ages of 14 to 80 and coming from as far as Bagley and Walker to perform. Our four directors provided a wide variety of music that enabled the performers to be exposed to different styles of music and conducting. It was great for many of us "old-timers" to find that we have not played every band piece ever written.

After working very hard all summer (we start the Wednesday after Memorial Day) we get to the end of the final concert and ask ourselves, "Is that all there is?" We're looking forward to returning next summer to provide the public with another season of summer evening concerts. Watch for us and thank you for this year.
