Hockey Day is coming to Bemidji; 13th annual event set for winter 2019

Letter: Mission of Mercy organizers offer thanks

As the local organizing committee for the Minnesota Mission of Mercy (MnMOM) recently held in Bemidji, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the volunteers and community partners that contributed to the success of this two-day free dental care event.

We are never surprised, but always delighted, with the generous spirit of the place we call home. A small but critical volunteer component was the area dental professionals -- dentists, hygienists and dental assistants -- who joined with their colleagues from other parts of Minnesota and other states to generously donate their skills and expertise. We were also deeply gratified by the response of area businesses and professionals that provided support with food, materials and labor in a multitude of areas. Many service organizations and churches generously stepped up to meet specific needs with volunteers or supplies and provided outreach to their members about Bemidji MnMOM.

The Sanford Center staff was outstanding and went above and beyond all expectations in support of this event. Many thanks go out to the hundreds of lay volunteers who assisted with Bemidji MnMOM. Your willingness to serve your community is truly remarkable. And last, but never least, are the patients who were able to access dental care through Bemidji MnMOM. We are grateful that you could be served through this event. We will continue to support the statewide work to address barriers to dental care.
