Marvin Royce Vincent

Marvin Royce Vincent, 85, of Bemidji, formerly of Bagley, died Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 12, 2018 at Northern Bible Church in Bemidji with Dr. Corbit Magby officiating. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 pm Thursday at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji and one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at the Northern Township Evergreen Cemetery in Bemidji with military honors by the VFW post # 1260.

Marvin Royce Vincent was born on September 10, 1933 in Lawrence, Kansas and was the first born child of Lavene and Martha Vincent. They moved to Minnesota in 1945. He graduated from Backus High School in Backus and graduated from Bemidji State University. Marvin was a skilled carpenter and built many cabins and houses. Marvin married Donna Sue Dye on November 16, 1957. Marvin joined and served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant JG and was stationed in Honolulu Hawaii. One of the highlights of his time in the service was singing a solo for President Dwight D Eisenhower. Marvin worked in the real estate business with his parents. Marvin started his teaching career at the elementary school in Pine River Minnesota. Marvin moved his family to Bagley Minnesota in 1966 where he taught school at Bagley elementary for 25 years. He taught fifth grade for most of those years and finished his career as a Title One teacher for first and second grade. He enjoyed being a wrestling coach during his early years of teaching. Marvin developed two lots with sand beach and swamp on Big Boy Lake near Boy River, Minnesota where the family enjoyed many summers. Marvin hobbies included carving ducks, gardening, hunting and fishing. Marvin loved Jesus, his family, and the many children he taught. He was a man of his word and integrity. He shared his musical talent with all of us. He taught us right from wrong. He helped us to know we all were loved by his actions.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Donna Vincent, of Bemidji; his children, Marlani (Erik) McPherson of Thief River Falls, Christopher (Bobbi) Vincent of Aurora, NE, Jennifer (Matthew) Nevala of Delavan, WI; grandchildren, Samantha (Ryan) Holliday of Gering, NE, Benjamin (soon to be Brooke) Vincent of Aurora, NE, Tyler, Whitney, Adam, and Jillian Nevala of Delavan, WI; great grandson, Jaxon Holliday of Gering, NE; several step grand children and step great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents and by two sisters, Carol Sue and Janice Lee "Kitty". Casketbearers will be Benjamin Vincent, Tyler Nevala, Erik McPherson, Matthew Nevala, Larry Nelson and Christopher Decker. Condolences may be left at ceasefuneralhome.com.
