Adrian Andrew Lussier, Sr., whose Ojibwe name is "Waagoosh" which means "Fox",66, of Red Lake, MN died on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Red Lake IHS Hospital.
Traditional Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the old Little Rock Community Center in Red Lake with spiritual leader Lee Staples. A wake will begin at 3pm on Saturday and will continue until the time of the service at the old Little Rock Center. Interment will be at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.
Adrian began his life journey 66 years ago on July 29, 1952 when he was brought into this world by his mother, Esther Sayers and father, John Lussier, Sr. in Red Lake, MN. He also passed in peace in Red Lake leaving behind many loved ones who continue to celebrate his life, his legacy and cherish the many lessons and wisdom he has passed on.
Adrian was a humble man who was the greatest father, husband, mentor, nurturer, voice-of-reason and demonstrated a selfless and giving nature. Adrian was an avid singer who enjoyed joking, laughing, playing moccasin games, boxing and attending pow-wows. He enjoyed watching movies and detective TV shows, reading and was a huge sports fanatic! He was an excellent hunter who would often give away his wild game to elders. He also wrote and created the Young Dreams Dance Troupe and taught many youth to sing traditional Anishinaabe songs.
Adrian shared 36 years of his life with his wife, Darlene (Graves) Lussier, They were inseparable until his passing. Adrian is survived by his wife and nine (9) children, Brandon (Delana) Mountain, Adrian (Ashley) Lussier, Jr., Ryan Lussier, Eliza (James) Lussier, Shari (Todd) Smith, Sarah (Knox) Lussier, Sheryl Anoka, Nicole Lussier and Jacob Lussier; his sixteen (16) grandchildren and two (2) great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Ramona Whitefeather; his brother Morris Smith; uncle Duane Lussier; brothers-in-law Joseph (Jill) Graves, Royce (Diana) Graves, Jr.; sister-in-law Eloise (Gordon) Graves-Jallen and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
Adrian has joined his mother, father and siblings Leroy "Gus" Whitefeather, Jr., Marlene "Molly" Barrett, John Lussier, Jr., Noreen Lussier, Gordon Lussier, Lee Sayers, Alvina Sayers, Alvera Sayers along with his grandparents and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews in the spirit world.
Active Casketbearers are Adrian Lussier, Jr., Ryan Lussier, Brandon Mountain, Todd Smith, James Cloud III, Evan Smith, Dana Lyons, Jr. and Sterling Knox. Honorary Casketbearers are Rosie Barrett, Bobbi Ann Lussier, Jack Neadeau, Morris Smith, Daryl Barrett, Charles Grolla, Sandra King, Irma Beaulieu and Mary Liz Quincy.
