Hilma Marie Belair, 97, of Bemidji, MN died Monday, August 6, 2018 at Goldpine Home in Bemidji.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 10, 2018 at St. Philip's Catholic Church in Bemidji with Father Chuck Huck officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Bemidji under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.
Hilma was born September 27, 1920 in Bemidji, the daughter of Adolf and Tilda (Johnson) Christiansen. She was raised and educated in Bemidji, graduating from Bemidji High School. She then graduated from Frances Business School in Minneapolis with a business degree. She returned to Bemidji to work for the Crookston Mill for several years. She married Martin Belair in 1949. She then worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Associated Drug for 35 years. She and Martin loved to travel and she enjoyed raising flowers. She was very active in the Carr Lake Community. She was a member of the Carr Lake Homemaker's Club, the Carr Lake Farmer's Club, was a member of the Business and Professional Women (BPW), past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, a past secretary of the Sons of Norway, and was active with the DAV.
She is survived by her sisters Eileen "Chris" Wagner of Bemidji, Eleanor (Jack) Owen of Baxter, Melvin Christiansen and Richard Christiansen both of Bemidji, and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Martin, and brothers- Albin, Rudolph, Wallace, LeRoy, Donald and Arthur.
