Letha Elvadell Sutton, 98, of Blackduck died Sunday, March 11, 2018 under the wonderful care of Tender Hearts in Blackduck.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 16, 2018 at Evangelical Free Church in Blackduck with Pastors Dwight Warden and Gary Siefers officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the services on Friday at the church. Interment will be at the Turtle River Township Cemetery in rural Bemidji, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Blackduck in the spring.
Letha was born October 24, 1919 in Walbach, Nebraska, the daughter of Harry and Nettie (Fithian) Sutton. She lived in South Dakota in her early years and later moved with her family to Kelliher, MN where she completed high school in 1937. She graduated from Bemidji State Teacher's College in 1939, she then taught at Ponemah. She attended the University of Northwestern in St. Paul and received a degree in Christian Education. After graduating from there she taught at Oak Hills for a time and then moved to Grand Rapids, MN. Letha loved working with children and she taught school at Grace Bible Chapel in Grand Rapids for more than 50 years. She was a prayer warrior, enjoyed reading and was a person that always took care of everyone's needs. Letha also loved to communicate by letter with many relatives and friends. She was admired by all members of her family.
She is survived by her brother Earl (Doris) Sutton of Greenley, Colorado, a sister - Donna Sutton of Blackduck, MN, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers- Glen, Elmer, Floyd, Leonard, Harold and Murl Sutton, 5 sisters - Electa Thoren, Esther Nord-Bruns, Opal Michalicek, Florence Bauer, and Ruth Warnberg.
