BEMIDJI—The Buena Vista Logging Village and the Lumberjack Hall of Fame Museum will host the annual Fall Festival on Sept. 15-16.

The festival "celebrates the history of pioneers who settled the area in the1900s when the town of Buena Vista was prospering and the logging industry was booming," a release said.

Festival events provide families an "Old -Fashioned Family Time" where they can discover the history and lore of the lumberjack era, the release added.

The Go and Whoa Harness Club will provide Fall Color wagon rides from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15-16. Admission for the 45-minute ride is $6 for those age 13 and older and $3 for children ages 5-12 while those younger are free. You can board the wagon at the logging village or take a scenic walk to the "top of the hill" for an optional route.

The release said visitors have long enjoyed the spectacular fall colors from a horse-drawn wagon on the high ridge known for centuries as the "Top of the World." You will be able to see the "season's beauty reflected in the lakes visible from the Laurentian Continental Divide as it passes through Buena Vista Ski Area, where the waters flow north to the Hudson Bay and south to the Gulf of Mexico," the release said.

There will be music at the Lumberjack Hall of Fame Museum, where lunch, homemade donuts and crafts also will be for sale. Attendees also can view the Leonard R. Dickinson collection of original logging history paintings by Andrew Stenstrom and Michael DeWitt in the Milwaukee Train Car. Chainsaw sculpting, blacksmithing and spinning demonstrations, square dancing, woodcarving, children's activities, baby goats, visit with local authors, exhibits of Buena Vista's history and walking tour of the Old Buena Vista town site also are planned for the weekend.

The Buena Vista Logging Village is located 12 miles north of Bemidji on Irvine Avenue (County Road 15).
