BEMIDJI -- Second-seeded St. Michael-Albertville held on late Wednesday night to stun top-seeded Moorhead 6-5 and advance to the state tournament for the first time in program history.

After jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead, Moorhead eventually fell behind 6-3 with three minutes remaining in the game played at the Sanford Center in Bemidji. The Spuds scored two quick goals to cut the lead to 6-5 with 1:27 remaining but could not produce a game-tying goal.
