BEMIDJI -- Two exhibition games against Division I opponents highlight the Bemidji State women's basketball team's 2013-14 schedule, which was announced Thursday by BSU head coach Mike Curfman.

The Beavers will travel to Brookings, S.D., Oct. 27 to take on South Dakota State before taking a quick trip to Grand Forks, N.D., for a Nov. 7 game against North Dakota.

BSU traveled to North Dakota last season. The Beavers hung with UND and only lost by nine points, 76-67.

The Beavers have also played SDSU in an exhibition contest, falling to the Jackrabbits 63-47 in 2010.

Aside from the D-I opponents, the Beavers will also take a trip to Colorado and will take on an NAIA school (Mayville State) and NCAA Division III (Finlandia) school in the nonconference.

"With two Division I exhibition games, a tournament in Colorado and an National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national tournament team in Mayville State University as part of our nonconference schedule, it will help us prepare for the challenging NSIC schedule that looks as strong as ever," Curfman said in a press release. "We are looking forward to getting started with fall workouts and practices."

The Beavers host Mayville State Nov. 12 and take on Finlandia Nov. 19, both in Bemidji. Mayville state went 20-6 last season and made the NAIA tournament for the first time in school history. BSU beat Mayville last season 85-77.

BSU also has trip to Colorado on the nonconference slate. The Beavers will take on Colorado-Colorado Springs Nov. 15 and Western State Colorado University Nov. 16 -- both in Colorado Springs.

Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play begins Nov. 30 at Minnesota Crookston and continues until Feb. 22. The NSIC tournament starts Feb. 28.

BSU finished 11-16 overall last season and 7-15 in conference play, seventh in the NSIC North.

BSU returns 10 players from last year's squad, including forward Jessie Althoff and guard Morgan Lee.
