Georgetown man faces new charges of beating daughter

MOORHEAD, Minn. – A Georgetown man accused of threatening another man with a flagpole and abandoning his 11-year-old daughter during a shoplifting attempt is wanted for arrest, this time for allegedly beating his daughter.

An arrest warrant was issued Monday in Clay County District Court for Jeffrey Charles Larson, 45, on charges of felony domestic assault and malicious punishment of a child, a gross misdemeanor.

Charging documents say the mother of Larson’s daughter reported to Clay County Social Services on July 7 that Larson slapped her daughter, leaving her face bruised and her glasses bent.

A Clay County sheriff’s detective interviewed the girl, who told him she and her brother had been living with their father in Georgetown until recently. The girl said Larson slapped her with an open hand and pulled her hair shortly after he was released from jail July 2.

Larson faces prior charges in Clay County related to an incident in which he’s accused of threatening a man with a flagpole, then breaking into a stranger’s home.

Larson also is charged in a felony child neglect case for allegedly ditching his daughter in a Fargo Walmart to flee with a shopping cart filled with more than $1,000 in merchandise.
