Bjerknes to plead guilty to state and federal charges

Cass Lake man gets 10 years for sexual assault of child

CASS LAKE -- A Cass Lake man was sentenced to nearly ten years in prison for felony criminal sexual conduct in Cass County Court Monday.

Francis “Tuffy” Peter Isham, 61, plead guilty to second-degree criminal sexual conduct on May 6. Isham is accused of engaging in sexual contact with a 9-year-old girl, according to a release issued by the Cass County attorney’s office. Isham amended a not guilty plea to guilty in exchange for a dismissal of a similar charge in Beltrami County.

Isham will be on conditional release for ten years after his release from the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud. He was credited with 317 days time served.

Isham will be required to register as a predatory offender for life and will be assigned a risk level. He will be subject to review for civil commitment as a predatory offender and must provide a DNA sample to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
