Hubbard County investigating theft of fundraiser proceeds
BEMIDJI -- The Hubbard County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary last month of proceeds from a church fundraiser.
According to the sheriff's office, a burglary was reported at northern Hubbard County residence that occurred between Feb. 9 and Feb. 13. Taken from the residence was a money bag containing proceeds from a church fundraiser for the Knights of Columbus, officials said. The empty money bag was recovered in the area of Cass Lake and was turned into First National Bank in Bemidji on Feb. 11 by an unknown male.
The sheriff's office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are seeking the identity of the male that found that bag to determine where and when it was recovered. If anyone has information about the incident or the male who found the bag, they should contact Hubbard County Deputy Bill Schlag at (888) 732-3332.
