Joseph Dominick Phillips was born May 19 in his family's 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt while his mother, Amanda (Norgaard) McBride, was driving from their home near Shevlin to North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.

The baby's father was a passenger in the car while his son was being born because his can't drive due to seizures.

On Thursday, representatives of General Motors, which manufactures the Cobalt, gave the family new car seats, a stroller, toys and a year's supply of diapers.

Delivering the supplies Thursday on behalf of GM were Mark C. Oberkircher, the zone manager for Chevrolet in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota; Sandra Drace, area sales manager for Chevrolet's North Central Region; Chris Kooluris, who works in communications in GM's Northeast Region; Hanson; and Judy Larson, who also helped with the car seats through Safe Kids Grand Forks.
