Robinson to leave KMSP after 20 years

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- Longtime KMSP news anchor Robyne Robinson says she will resign this month to focus on her design career.

Robinson has been with KMSP for 20 years. The TV station reports her last day will be May 26.

Her jewelry line, ROX Minneapolis, has been featured in national publications. Robinson recently designed custom jewelry for Beyonce.

Robinson was the first African American to anchor a local prime-time newscast. She has received several awards, including the 2005 Upper Midwest Emmy for Best Anchor.

Meanwhile, longtime WCCO-TV anchor Don Shelby plans to announce details of his retirement on Wednesday. He said last year that he would leave the station this December. He's been at WCCO since 1978.
