Bjerknes to plead guilty to state and federal charges

Saxhaug authors bill to help propane crisis

ST. PAUL-- State Sen. Tom Saxhaug, DFL-Grand Rapids, has authored a bill that would allocate $20 million in state funds for heating assistance in response to a regional propane crisis causing prices to skyrocket.

In a rare display of bipartisanship, a similar bill unanimously passed the Minnesota House of Representatives on Tuesday. Saxhaug said he likewise didn’t expect his Senate version to face any resistance. He said his bill had passed the Senate Finance Committee and would likely go to a floor vote Monday.

“I anticipate early next week, it’ll be signed by the Governor,” he said.
