Fatal accident in Mille Lacs County involves Bemidji resident

BEMIDJI -- A fatal accident Friday night in Mille Lacs County involved a Bemidji resident, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The two-vehicle accident occurred just after 7 p.m. Friday, the patrol said. A 1995 Mercury Mystique driven by Rodney Brown, 39, of St. Paul, was traveling southbound on Highway 169 when it struck a 2004 Buick Century driven by Autumn Hardy, 21, of Bemidji, who was traveling north on Highway 169 when the vehicle hit ice and spun into the oncoming lane.

A passenger in Hardy's vehicle, Linda Sam, 49, of Wahkon, Minn., was killed in the accident, the patrol said. Hardy was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minn. A 3-year-old passenger in the Hardy vehicle, whose name was not given, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Brown also suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the patrol said. All four people were wearing their seat belts and no alcohol was detected. The Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office and the Isle Police Department responded to the accident.
