Laettner Basketball Academy set for Sunday in Blackduck

Former NBA player and Olympic gold medalist, Christian Laettner will take his Basketball Training Academy to Blackduck High School on Sunday.

"He's actually going to be there," Athletic Director Andra Vaughn said. "He's a pretty hands-on guy."

Vaughn said that they are expecting a large crowd. "We've had quite a number of people contact us," Vaughn said. "We've even had people from Big Fork call."

The goal of the camp is to provide a fun, learning environment for the devoted, committed basketball player who wants to improve his or her game, according to Laettner's website.

The camp was held last year at Bemidji Middle School and was sponsored by Oak Hills Christian College. A total of 115 participants showed up.

Children ages 6 to 9 will participate from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday and 10- to 17-years-olds are scheduled from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
