Two outages leave thousands without power Thursday morning

BEMIDJI — Equipment failure resulted in two power outages early Thursday in the Bemidji area.

The first outage occurred at 1:43 a.m., according to Otter Tail Power Co. spokeswoman Cris Oehler, and lasted 2:01 hours. That affected 3,845 customers.

Power again cut out at 4:05 a.m., and lasted another 2:03 hours, affecting 2,281 customers, she said. Oehler said both outages were caused by “equipment failure.”

It’s unclear how widespread the outage was, but apartment buildings off of Anne Street Northwest were without power Thursday morning, as were residences near Slim’s Bar and Grill, the Bemidji Regional Airport and in the Nymore neighborhood, according to a post on the Pioneer’s Facebook page.
