Volunteers needed for Missions of Mercy dental care event in Bemidji

BEMIDJI - Two state dental associations are seeking volunteers to help provide free dental care at a two-day event this summer.

The Minnesota Dental Foundation and the Minnesota Dental Association are hosting the Minnesota Mission of Mercy event on June 14-15 at the Sanford Center.

“A large, temporary dental clinic will be erected at the Sanford Center to provide treatment for children and adults in need, regardless of their ability to pay,” a press released from the dental association reads.

A Mission of Mercy event in Mankato drew 2,000 people in two days last year.

There are still hundreds of volunteer positions available for both dental professionals and lay volunteers for this summer’s event.

“All community volunteers are welcome to participate and many jobs are available for set-up and treatment days, including patient greeting, registration, translation, and escorts,” the press release states.
