Blackduck Municipal Golf Course opens for historic 80th season

It was a brisk day for the opening of the Blackduck Municipal Golf Course’s 80th season in operation on Monday.

Yet two golfers, Dawn and Benji Jourdan, brave the crisp weather and were the first ones on the course.

On Saturday, April 22, the course will host a new members and member’s rush night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with refreshments, games, prizes and more. The early bird registration rates will be available to members through April 30.

The golf course will also have a special for Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 14. Mothers can golf nine holes for free and officials suggest scheduling a tee time. Golf cart and club rental will not be included.

Events for the course’s 80th anniversary will be held through the summer.

An 80-year fundraiser tournament will be held but has not yet been scheduled. For the event, participants can dress in 1930’s-era apparel. The Men’s and Ladies leagues will also be putting together a historical display of Blackduck Municipal Golf Course memorabilia.
