Blackduck hosts new community website

The city of Blackduck now has what Christina Regas, city administrator, calls a community website.

“I call it a community website because it involves everybody, which is what I think it should be but it’s technically the city of Blackduck’s,” Regas said.

The site ( features a link to the Blackduck School District’s site, is now home to the Blackduck Chamber of Commerce, and the Blackduck Development Corp. has helped to sponsor it.

The Chamber portion of the site benefits members of the Chamber more than the previous site did in the past, according to Regas. The Chamber’s past website no longer exists.

Local business that are members of the Chamber can find their locations on a map at the top of the page.

“There’s a big difference between having a footprint as a Chamber member on this page versus just in the business directory,” Regas said. “When you’re in the business directory, if you’re a Chamber member, it calls you out more than if it was just a business.”

The need for a new website was brought up when Regas began in her position as City Administrator.

“You couldn’t get to the school’s website from the city website,” Regas said of the old site. “You could not get to the Chamber website from the city’s website. They were all three individuals, and that was frustrating from somebody like me who came from the outside.”

Design Angler, located in Bemidji, has designed the the site and will continue to maintain it. Regas said that adding items to calendar or anything to any page is a lot easier than in the past.

“It’s a lot more user-friendly than the other one was,” she said.

Regas also added that they are always open to suggestions to add businesses, events, calendar items and more.

A “contact” page can be found at the top left of the site for any suggestions.
