Rain causes road closures in Beltrami County

A portion of the Blackduck Golf Course was under water this morning after heavy rains fell yesterday in Beltrami County. Submitted photo.

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning to commuters of road hazards late Thursday due to heavy rain. The following roads and highways were affected:

  • Highway 72 North, six miles north of Blackduck in a dip in the road near Lanet Road Northeast, had water almost completely over the road, but remained open.

  • Hornet Road Northeast in Hornet Township was closed just north of Highway 71 on Hornet Road County 41 in its first curve. A caution sign was placed on Three Mile Road Northwest County 304. Water over the road allowed only the west lane to remain open.

  • Willow Creek Road Northeast in Shooks Township, approximately two and a half miles north of Highway 1 was closed overnight due to water washing over the road.

  • Lanet Road Northeast between Highway 72 and Corlan Road Northeast was closed at approximately 9:30 p.m. due to it being under water.
