BEMIDJI -- A new Postmaster was sworn in for the Bemidji area Friday at the Bemidji Public Library.

Brett Boysen, of Austin, Minn., was sworn in by Larry Bock, the senior manager of post office operations for the Northland District. Bock said Boysen has many outstanding attributes which contributed to his appointment to the position.

"Not only is he a manager but he's a leader. He's an excellent communicator and he has all the right fit for the community as well as for the postal service," Bock said.

The small ceremony was attended by Boysen's family, friends and colleagues, along with Bemidji city officials. Boysen is the 18th Postmaster of Bemidji, replacing John Johnson who retired in January.

Boysen has been with the United States Postal Service since 2004, and previously worked as the manager of customer service at the USPS office in Duluth.

The Bemidji USPS office currently employs 67 people and serves 38 communities in the Bemidji area. Boysen said he plans on giving his new role "everything I've got."

"I'm looking forward to serving the community and the 566 zip codes," Boysen said.
