BMS assistant principal top choice for Nevis superintendent
The Nevis School Board unanimously agreed to let the finance committee begin negotiations with Bemidji Middle School Assistant Principal Gregg Parks Wednesday, May 21 in the hopes that he will become the new superintendent of the Nevis School District.
Over the course of three hours, Parks and competing candidate Shane Tappe (K-12 Principal of the Ashby School District) each gave a presentation on school budgeting and finance. Afterwards, both candidates faced around 15 questions each from the school board, ranging a wide array of topics including personal interests, strengths, weaknesses, leadership qualities and styles, future goals and team building.
Once both candidates concluded their interviews, the school board convened to discuss their thoughts on each candidate. After a 20 minute discussion, Ed Becker presented a motion to authorize the finance committee to begin negotiations with Gregg Parks. Seconded by Marv Vredenburg, the school board unanimously voted to approve the motion.
