Downtown cleanup night set

Downtown Project Pride clean up night will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. April 29 in downtown Bemidji. Volunteers from all downtown business, offices and apartments will work up to two hours to get downtown ready for summer. Organizers said that all people need to do to clean around their business or residence is:

• Sweep sand from the sidewalks and from around benches, kiosks and planters into the street to be collected by city staff.

• Clean trash and leaves out of alleys and tree grates.

• Sweep edges of alleys and blow out dirt from behind buildings to center of alley for city to sweep.

• Consider painting or landscape projects.

• Remove weeds by sidewalk edges, next to buildings, around signs and poles.

Following the cleanup, all volunteers are invited to the Volunteer Appreciation Party at Keg n' Cork, 310 Beltrami Ave. NW. Free food will be available by the Bemidji Downtown Alliance.
