Wells Technology subject of senatorial visits
Andy Wells, chief of Wells Technology Inc., is the subject of visits this week by both of Minnesota's U.S. senators.
U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken, both Democrats, are visiting manufacturing sites across northwestern Minnesota early this week in an effort to promote jobs.
Wells, president and CEO of Wells Technology Inc., was the 2009 Minnesota Small Business Person of the Year, and was recognized by President Barack Obama at the White House in the U.S. Small Business Administration awards.
Both Klobuchar and Franken will visit Wells Technology's precision metal machining plant in Eckles Township -- Klobuchar on Monday evening and Franken on Tuesday afternoon.
Both senators are spending a few days in northwest Minnesota touring plants.
"The big push is for jobs," said Franken spokesman Marc Kimball, who added that Franken is visiting a dozen towns throughout the area to view manufacturing plants and also to discuss flood issues.
He will also tour Northland Community College and Technical College in Thief River Falls.
Klobuchar is expected at Wells Technology about 5 p.m. Monday and Franken about 3:30 p.m Tuesday. Franken first will meet with Pioneer editors at 2:30 p.m.
