City getting new, larger signs

City employee Mike Zothman switches out street signs along Lake Boulevard on Wednesday morning. Bemidji Street Superintendent David Hansen said the sign replacement is part of an ongoing effort by the city to comply with new state regulations that call for more reflective, easier-to-read signs (the letters are now 6-inches). The quest to replace the approximately 600 signs within city limits began more than a year ago with a goal of finishing in spring 2015, Hansen said. Crews replace the signs periodically as weather allows, he said. Monte Draper | Bemidji Pioneer
