NHCC honors Dietary Services staff

Northome Healthcare Center is honoring its Dietary Services staff as part of National Food Service Week, Oct. 4-10.

Rachel Chaffin, Becky Davison, Greg Davison Jr., Laura Gibbs, Debra Guderian, Bonnie Hendricks, Sandra Holdman, Kay Kile, Dillon Lay and Maryanne Leach make up the dietary staff.

The Dietary Services goal is to make residents' dining experience as pleasant as possible by providing good, nutritious food in a relaxed atmosphere.

NHCC has a consulting dietitian who meets with Kay Kile, dietary manager, to ensure the meals are nutritious and good-tasting. The menus rotate every few weeks, with alternate meal options that cater to specific dietary needs of residents.

Kile's job has numerous aspects, including the ordering of food, planning of menus, arranging staff schedules, attending resident care conference meetings and monitoring residents' weight, food intake and special dietary needs. Not only does Kile perform her required job duties, she also uses her sewing expertise to mend residents' clothing items.

Kile expressed her appreciation for the hard work of her staff members, who accommodate events outside their normal routine. NHCC and the dietary staff feel it is important for residents to conjure up memories from their past. Unique menu requests help residents recall family traditions and special moments. Dietary staff recognize birthdays and holidays with special menu items to celebrate.
