Bemidij boy injured in Thursday morning crash
A 17-year-old Bemidji boy was injured in a two-vehicle crash reported about 7:45 a.m. Thursday in Beltrami County.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol out of Thief River Falls:
Jacob C. Urban was driving a 1995 Saturn SL2 north on Hubbard County Road 98, but was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection with County Road 2.
A 2008 Peterbuilt tractor-trailer driven by Michael R. Nepean, 61, of Bagley, was westbound on County Road 2 (North Plantagenet Road).
Witnesses said Urban attempted to cross County Road 98 and failed to yield to the tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer attempted to stop, but it struck the Saturn on the passenger side.
Urban, who was wearing his seat belt, was taken to North County Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Nepean, who also was wearing a seat belt, was not apparently injured.
The Saturn was totaled. The tractor-trailer sustained minor damage.
Also responding to the scene was the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office.
