Beltrami County Fair: Rodeo to celebrate 10th anniversary
The 2009 Gold Mine Ranch/Triple B Rodeo performances at the Beltrami County Fair will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 1.
This will be the 10th anniversary of the rodeo in the fair arena with the covered grandstand, and both performances will be held rain or shine.
Joe Waslaski and Kris Klasen, Bemidji area horse lover, have worked together to organize the rodeo since 2000 at the Beltrami County Fair.
"Last year's rodeo was a tremendous success, and the community response was very positive," Waslaski said. "We had a great rodeo company, good bucking stock, lots of contestants for the mutton bustin', boot scrambler, calf scramble, wild cow race and a great rodeo announcer."
Gold Mine Ranch will present prizes from local businesses. All rodeo fans in attendance will be entered into a drawing for prizes at each performance.
Ticket prizes are $12 for adults in advance and $15 at the gate and $8 for children ages 3-12 in advance and $10 at the gate. Children 2 and younger can attend for free with an adult. Advance ticket outlets are Tom'stop, Jack'stop, Pete's Place West, Fugate's Country Store, Ace on the Lake, all in Bemidji, and Blackduck Coop and Saddle Up of Blackduck. Advance ticket sales will end at noon Thursday, July 30. Tickets will be available at gate price at Tom'stop July 30-Aug. 1.
The rodeo events will be bareback bronc, steer wrestling, barrel racing, team roping, saddle bronc, bull riding, calf roping, over 40 calf roping and breakaway roping. To enter these events, competitors must be members of the Minnesota Rodeo Association and sign up directly through the association by calling Triple B Rodeo at 320-367-2445 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, July 27.
Local children can take part in the sheep riding for children 3-7, calf scramble for children 8-12, boot scramble for children 7 and younger. There is no entry fee for the boot race or boot scramble.
The final even Friday, July 31, is the wild cow milking contest open to adults 10 and older in teams of two. Entrants must preregister for this event. Payback for the first place team is $100. The final event on Saturday is the Wild Cow Race open to adults 18 and older for teams of three. Entrants must preregister for this event. Payback of $150 goes to the first place team.
