Suspects plead guilty in Maple Ridge burglary

BEMIDJI -- Two people from Red Lake have plead guilty to second-degree burglary charges from an incident in Maple Ridge Township.

Kristie Leanne Lussier, 41, plead guilty Dec. 23. Robert Alan Thunder, 31, entered a guilty plea Monday. Both are scheduled for sentencing in Beltrami District Court on Jan. 21. Second-degree burglary carries a penalty of up to 10 years imprisonment and/or a $20,000 fine.

On Nov. 24, the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office received a residential burglary complaint for a home on the 23300 block of Highway 89 in Maple Ridge Township, which is north of Bemidji. Homeowners Karen and Dennis Martin of Crookston informed Deputy Teri Speck they discovered tracks in the snow leading up to the east side of the home.

A window had been broken, which was determined to have been used to gain entry, according to a sheriff’s office incident report. Power tools, a tool box, Stihl chainsaw and an air compressor, along with rugs and decorative items were stolen during the burglary, the report said.

The sheriff’s office investigation unveiled tracks that showed a larger footed person lifted a smaller footed person into the window. The house had been “ransacked,” according to the incident report.

The Martin’s had a game camera in their yard that aided in the investigation as it had captured footage of the suspects and their vehicle. Speck noted in her report that the Martin’s home had been burglarized in early 2013 and three suspects were arrested.
