Apartment building fire reported

BEMIDJI -- No one was injured in an apartment building fire on Saturday afternoon in Northern Township.
The fire was reported by an occupant of an apartment at 2:19 p.m., according to the Bemidji Fire Department. When firefighters arrived, there was smoke coming from the eaves and entryway of the building, according to a press release from the fire department.
Firefighters were able to contain and extinguish the fire, which was located in the attic and entryway, the release said. No injuries were reported, but the fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damage to the building and contents. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the department and the State Fire Marshal's office, but it does not appear to be suspicious in nature, the release said.
In addition to the fire department, the Solway Fire Department, Beltrami County Sheriff's Office and Bemidji Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.
