Planned power outage scheduled
LAPORTE -- Minnkota Power Cooperative will perform scheduled maintenance at 3:30 a.m. Friday on the Laporte substation. This includes the city of Laporte, Kabekona and south of the Guthrie area.
The outage is expected to last no longer than two hours and power should be restored by 5:30 a.m., officials said.
Blood drive at Bemidji Eagle's Club
BEMIDJI -- United Blood Services will host a blood drive 12:30 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Bemidji Eagle's Club, 1270 Neilson Ave. SE.

To save time, donors can now fill out their health history questionnaire online at www.unitedbloodservices.org on the day of their donation.
Volunteer musts be at least 16 years old and in good health.
Early childhood open house set
BEMIDJI -- Early Childhood Family Education will host an open house 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Community Service Center, 616 America Ave.
All families with children from birth to age 5 are welcome to see the facility and register for a class.
Krafty Kids program planned
BEMIDJI -- The city of Bemidji has planned Krafty Kids, decorating back to school crafts for children, 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sept. 10 at the City Park Multi Use Building, 1351 5th St. NW.
Cost is $7 and is limited to 12 participants. Register at www.ci.bemidji.mn.us.
